*** PLUS two stepsons, (Jordan 19 & Travis 17) ***

We watch them flounder

From the time they toddle,

We watch them fall

Get up and down and waddle.

We dry their tears

Bandage their knees,

We try to teach them

"Thank you" and "Please".

Yet there's only so much

And so many places,

We're limited overseers of

Baseballs and shoe laces.

One day will come girls

First dates and first kisses,

That first broken heart

White lace and new dishes.

We mothers must be silent

Our words kept to ourselves,

While our sons live their lives

We put pictures on shelves.

As a mother myself of many sons

Many prayers have been spoken,

God knows me well and takes care

He is my comfort and token.

Master Chris this is all I have to give you

On this your special day,

I realize you don't know me

Just a wish if I may.

Enjoy the time you're given

Appreciate it the best you can,

Remember to hug your mother

As you become a man.
