She Broke The Mold
Norma Liles
As I perceive her in my mind's
eye, I see this special lady making homemade
bread, homemade noodles,
frying chicken and making a home cooked meal
For any of her children who
just happened to pay a visit.
You never found things out of
place. If her windows had been mirrors, you
Could have seen yourself in
them. Her linens were as soft and clean as a young
woman's laundry. Her
beds were always dressed in their pretty bedspreads
And her furniture always
showed the results of a cleaning cloth.
As I endeavor to explain this
lady, you may ask; "What's the big deal?" The
Big deal is; we are talking
about my Mom, this lady who lost her vision when
She was in her mid fifties,
who lost her husband during this traumatic time &
Who cared for her special
needs daughter throughout her life until Jesus called
Her home.
We, her children had to allow
her to leave us; heartbroken but so proud of
A lady who had brought ten of
us into the world having raised all of to adults
With the exception of one who
she had to give back to the Lord at the tender
Age of two.
I love you, Mom, but I know
you are 'seeing Dad' and tickling the ivories as
You entertain the King of
Kings, Jesus Christ. "Happy Mother's Day!"
