The Longest Day Of The Year. 6 June 1944 D DAY

On June 6, 1944, a date known ever since as D-Day, a mighty armada crossed a narrow strip of sea from England to Normandy, France, and cracked the Nazi grip on western Europe.

A day so long ago.  A day so long in coming.  A day many brave men moved, took the first step to free Europe from the grip of Hitler and his gang. Some, a lot never made it to land. Some made it to land only to die, while some made it more inland, only to die later.  Some made it all the way to see the end of the war, which in Europe would be 8 May 1945.

I have said this before.  The Longest day of the year 6 June 1944 D DAY  I have had people say I was wrong, it isn't the longest day of the year.  Tell that to the men who lived that day, go ahead be my guest, tell them.  It was a day started early, it seemed like it would never end. That is for the ones that lived to tell about it.

Brave men, so many brave men. Some lived to come home to tell about it if they talked about it at all.  It was hell and back for all of them.  Many never lived out the day, for some the day never really got started, and those were history.

I am not going to write much about that day.  The ones that came home from that day, is getting few and far between.  It is a day those will never forget.  The Longest Day Of The Year. 6 June 1944 D DAY.   The free world owes those brave men much.

God Bless the Canadian, the English, the Australian, the American men of the Longest Day Of The Year 6 June 1944 D DAY
