A Thought

B. J. Cassady

I am the eye of decency, I can see the moral decency of humans whether they be Catholic, Protestant, Agnostic, Atheist, Muslim or other. I see only humans, I do not care if they are right wing or left wing. However, my vision is limited, I cannot see color, nor can I see race.

I am the mind of humanity. I understand all people have a point of view and an offering to the just cause of mankind.

I am the conscience of man... I cried when the Jews were segregated and punished. I wept when the Irish and later Italians were treated like their black brothers from
Africa.

I could not understand why men, Christian men, thought Catholics were a threat. I was stunned at the treatment of the native American Indians, of women in general, of the
short and over-weight on our society. I wondered, oh how I wondered what does it take for man to truly become a family?

I am a man. I must realize that within my mind is prejudice. To be prejudiced is not evil, but to act upon it, to vent the prejudice is…  evil.

I am working one day at a time not to judge my fellow man upon his race, religion or upbringing.

We Went Wrong

Bill Walker

wildbill6807@yahoo.com

We went wrong,  took the wrong path.  When did we go wrong? Where did we go wrong.  Well I think I know about the time we went the wrong path.

I think it took place about 1942 or so.  If you are a young person, better go get, or find a real history book.   One like we use to have in a real school of learning. One that don't leave out good parts of history.

Now if you can't find one, old Bill remembers what happened.  We was in a full scale war.  Was fighting on many different fronts.  It was a fight to keep our freedom, also to save the world from total slavery.

Now we needed a lot of tools of war.  To do this with the able bodies on the war fronts, there was a front at home.  This took men that didn't fit for service, and women that came out of the homes.  Now these women was of all ages.   Some had children, which they farmed out to some of the family. Grandma in some cases.  Well that was well and good I guess.  Up to that time and maybe a little later, no one ever thought of a farm out place called child care centers.

But soon some smart person figured a way to make money.  Mothers has a place to dump the kids off and go to work.  Child day care funny farm.  Kids are dumped off at this place. Cost is so much per day for each child. Mother is making 2.50 per hour, cost of getting rid of kid is a dollar per hour. Kid gets a light lunch, and a brain wash job at this place.

Now by brain wash I mean this.  In a few cases might be good, but in most cases no way is it good.  In some cases leads to a lot of nasty things.  These places are just a place to dump kids. They learn next to nothing, but nasty.  At first there was no rules, just bring your kid and so much money I will kind of look after them.  Baby setter joints. I got a money maker here, and I get to watch my soaps.   But back in the war days there wasn't no TV yet. So it was on the radio. The person doing the so called watch and care for kids has to hear John's Other Family on the radio,  or some other trash.  Kids get ideas from this trash.

I remember about this time, women started to wear paints,, and then shorts, and show more skin.  Well I guess one thing leads to lots of things.  In a way I understand the paints in factories of making war goods.  But it got to be the thing,  women took to the idea.

Now later after the war, most of the jobs dried up for women in factories.  But it wasn't long till other things opened up.  Women took to other jobs, and still farmed the kids out to the care centers.  Today in any town of 4 or more thousand people your going to fine farm out places for kids. Dump the kids and go to work making some bucks.  We need this job so we can keep up with the Jones family.  We need a couple cars, fine house, and other perks like belong to the clubs.  We got to be on the go to those you know.  It has got so bad, the kid dump off runs 7 days a week 24 hours a day.  Kids really don't have a home life.  Never know if they will see home other then maybe a few hours a week, and what day that might be.

Now this all has caused much trouble.  Why do you think we have a major break down in law and order?  These children has grown up and now is doing the same thing.  These know no other life style, marry or what ever, have a crop of kids and farm them out. These know nothing of how to raise a child,  have one, farm them out and keep right on working at a paying job.  A hundred years or so back,   mother had a full time job.  Staying at home, holding the fort.  Washing, cooking and keeping house,  keeping her kids in line.  She knew where and what each child was doing.  She had a full time job,  and she loved it.  Her man was working somewhere, making a pay check, they lived and made it with out 2 or more cars, and belonging to all the groups and clubs.  About the only club they belonged to was open on Sundays,  maybe a couple other evenings or on special requests.

There was a Bible class at home in most cases.  A child knew right from wrong.  A wrong if it was bad enough met with the thing call hand on butt.  It was nothing to see a mother grab an unruly child by the hand and give a swat to the rump. We have lost something by hearing that quack called Dr.Spock.  Look around at the animal kingdom.  A mother dog, or any animal will give one of her kids a swat, no Dr.Spock.  She also gives mother love.  She takes care of her brats, don't farm them out to a care center.

Yes the world has really changed in my life time.  I think we took a wrong turn in the road way back there say about 1942 or so.  We need to get back to the days of old.  Mothers at home, taken care of the home front.  Dad out making the pay check, a one car family, the devil with keeping up with the Jones family.  If they want to let the kids to grow up with out knowing law and order at home, that is their problem. We keep law and order in our house, and the devil with Dr. Spock and his screw ball ideas.  I don't mean beat up the kids for wrongs.  Words and a good swat will get the point across.

I hear this about prayer in schools.. Well I think now there is a few things about that that I don't care for.  But I think if mother is home and the child knows there is a Bible in the house.  That is one of the two best places to learn law and order.  Then there is church of your picking on Sunday.  I remember as a child going to Sunday School. That was a good place to go, I wanted to go to learn more of the boys, and girls of the Bible.  Some were men and women of the Bible.  I loved the old old stories.  And I had a mother at home holding the fort.  She knew where and what her one brat was into at all times.

I can understand why children of to day is in no rush to get home.  Mother is not there to wipe the tears of the day away. She is not there mending a pair of paints or fixing a dress for little Dollie. Or fixing a supper for when dad gets home from a hard days work.  A supper made the old fashion way.  Cooked  instead of a TV dinner special.

God's Gift

Joyce C. Lock

God's gift to you, this Christmas,
Is a present from the heart.

A present that is ...

So special, it can't be bought.

So priceless, it can't be sold.

Of such quality, it will never let you down.

So rare, it's one of a kind.

So precious, you'll want to share it.

There's only one gift that's all these.

It's JESUS.

He'll make your life complete.

All you have to do is receive.

God's Wonder

Joyce Lock

It's a wonder, in the sky, tonight;
To gaze toward Heaven's starlight.

The sun, the moon, and the stars, so bright;
Shining love on all in sight...

Bringing truth from the night;
God, Master Creator, the Father of Lights.

Readers Feedback

Reply ref Scarlett Hunt’s special treat July 6.  War stinks.  It is the saddest possible statement  of our inability to resolve problems on this continually evolving planet.  It is another statement of our failure to see beyond the violence and explore causes and solutions of this barbarism.  Is there any hope?         Louise Nomani
